I sign up to be a pattern tester or have my kids help pick an item of clothing they want and the fabric and then I have no choice but to sew. And that usually does the trick! :)

I go through my stash or my UFO pile when I can't think of anything else to do. Accomplishing something helps get me rolling again.

I usually stand in my room and stare at the bundles of fabrics and patterns I have put together and pick one. Fresh start - new UFO!

When I'm in a sewing rut, I like to complete a small project. Or finish a big step of a bigger project, like all the cutting for a quilt. Cutting is always the step that trips me up with my projects. If I could just buy everything precut and sew away, projects would be finished so much faster :-)

My sewing funk is usually cured by seeing what others are creating - whether that means walking around a craft show, scrolling through sites like Pintrest & Etsy or just visiting a crafty/artistic friend to see what she's been up to lately. Of course, a visit to the beach with a long walk along the water's edge never hurts!!! Mother Nature is full of inspiration.

WHEN I AM IN A SEWING FUNK I LOG ONLINE AND VISIT ALL MY FAVORITE SEWING BLOGS AND ADMIRE LL THE TALENTED AND CRAFTY PEOPLE I FOLLOW. IF THAT DOEN'T DO IT FOR ME I GO TO MY LOCAL FABRIC STORE AND BROWSE AROUND UNTIL I FIND THAT FABRIC THAT JUST SCREAMS MY NAME.

When I'm in a sewing rut, I'll browse my books & patterns, or look through my fabric stash for inspiration. Fortunately, I don't often hit a rut -- my bigger problem is running out of time!
Love the goodies in this giveaway! Happy National Sewing Month!

When I'm in a sewing rut, hitting up the local thrift store is my inspiration. Hunting for odd bits of fabric scraps and old tweed and leather blazers never fails to inspire me to turn those unwanted items into something lovely and new :)
