While we can't write about every craft fair and marketplace happening across the country (or the world), we do like to highlight a handful of notable ones each week. If you'd like more people to know about your craft show or event, list it on our Craft Map and we'll gladly consider it for coverage. You can also email us at

Native American Festival and Basketmakers Market

Native peoples of Maine have been perfecting the craft of basket-making for thousands of years, passing the skills down from generation to generation, and the result is some of the most exquisite baskets made today. The festival also boasts of demonstrations of dancing, drumming, flute playing, basketmaking and ash pounding. Find out what "ash-pounding" entails and travel to Bar Harbor.
