Step 1
Place fabric in embroidery hoop. Lightly sketch with a pencil the letter you want to embroider. Tip: Feel free to select a font on a document writer like Microsoft Word, and simply hold the hoop and fabric to the bright screen and trace lightly.
Step 2
Using whichever embroidery stitch you prefer, hand stitch the letter. (I used a chain stitch.) Remove fabric from the embroidery hoop and press out wrinkles.
Step 3
Lay the quilt batting or thick felt on top of the monogram, and place the Mason jar lid on top. Then, place the sandwich inside the Mason jar band. Pull the fabric tight. At this point, because of the thickness of the batting or felt, the fabric should be very secure inside the fabric.
Step 4
To finish this Mason jar craft, you can either cut off any excess fabric from the back of the Mason jar frame, or you can sew a running stitch around the fabric poking from the back of the lid. Next, pull the thread tight so that the fabric creates a pouch around the lid. If hanging this embroidery frame where the back will be seen, consider gluing felt or card stock to the back.
