Spring is in the air, but thanks, we'll pass on the hay fever. Reach for your nearest sheet of paper (preferably green), and catch crafting fever instead. Here's an easy origami and paper craft to start!
Check out our roundup of easy origami for beginners as well as our stunning gallery of incredible origami!

Step 1

Begin by folding two corners to the center of the sheet to make a kite shape. Fold the top left corner to the center as shown, aligning the top edge with the fold you made in step 2. Do the same with the bottom right corner.

Step 2

Fold the upper left corner to the center, aligning the left edge to the center fold. Do the same with the bottom right corner.

Step 3

Your model should look like this. Flip it.

Step 4

Fold the model in half on the center line.

Step 5

Beginning at the rightmost corner, make a small fold as shown and then unfold. Repeat to make a series of parallel, evenly spaced folds. These folds will represent veins in the finished leaf. The arcs show only the first three folds.

Step 6

This pattern is excerpted with permission from "Origami Bonsai Kit: Create Beautiful Botanical Sculptures" by Benjamin John Coleman and released by Tuttle Publishing.
