Whovians can celebrate their love for "Doctor Who" with these fandom crafts, gifts, and collectibles
The BBC recently announced Peter Capaldi will be the 12th Doctor for Series 8 of "Doctor Who." You can watch the official announcement and see Peter Capaldi in action here. From the crowd's reaction we can see that whovians agree that Peter Capaldi was a good decisio. I think we can say with confidence that the future of the TARDIS, the galaxy and "Doctor Who" is in safe hands. So in celebration of Series 8, here are 12 ways to show off your love for "Doctor Who."
Limited Edition DVD Sets
It's heartbreaking to see Matt Smith go but you can treasure him as the 11th Doctor with the Complete Seventh Series on DVD (found here). It hasn't been released yet so true whovians are pre-ordering. It has a ton of extras and features and we suggest reserving your copy quickly because a little birdie told me that they are going to sell out! If you are a completely hardcore fan, then you can go for the Limited Edition Complete Series 1-7 Blu-ray Set (found here). It comes with your own Sonic Screwdriver Remote and other treasures in that fabulous box!
DIY TARDIS Cross Stitch iPhone Cover
Looking for a DIY TARDIS craft project? Haley over at the Zen of Making shares her tutorial on how to make this cross-stitched TARDIS iPhone cover. Everyone will be jealous of your craftiness and your handmade phone cover.
11's Sonic Screwdriver TV Remote
This thing is just full of awesome! It's a replica of the 11th Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver and also a programmable remote control. It is made from diecast metal, lights up, comes with it's own case, and you can program 39 gestures to do whatever you want to your TV. Volume change, channel change, menu, etc. This is definitely going on my Christmas list! Watch the video and buy it here at ThinkGeek.
EXTERMINATE your need for Doctor Who crafts with these cute (yet dangerous) crochet Daleks. These amigurumi Daleks are easy for you to make with this free pattern by Lucy Ravenscar found on Ravelry. I would be weary of where you keep your little daleks; you don't want them to vaporize you while you're sleeping!
If you're not only a whovian but also a BBC nerd or a British native, then you may be accustomed to a cuppa. I surely love kicking back with some earl grey and watching my favorite time lord defend Earth. This TARDIS teapot (found here) would be the perfect addition to your kitchen when you are getting in the Doctor Who state of mind.
We even have a whovian who sells her creations in our marketplace! Check out this awesome Doctor Who TARDIS Apron made by Jordan Ellis. I love collecting all kinds of aprons and changing them based on my mood. The Harry Potter Apron she has for sale is also another of my favorites. You can show off your love for "Doctor Who" and support handmade artists at the same time!
Doctor Who Thigh-High Socks
Colder weather is on the way, so why not prepare with some crazy Doctor Who socks? These knee socks are great for any Doctor Who fan. You can buy them individually or as a set. They have a throwback to the 4th Doctor with the classic scarf colors, a cute argyle colored Dalek theme and the iconic TARDIS. They're also thigh highs which makes them even more fun! You can find the Doctor Who Socks here at Think Geek.
Knit TARDISh Cloth
One of the fastest and easiest things to knit is a dishcloth. So why not knit a TARDISh cloth ... see what I did there?! Arwyn Arising shares her free pattern for this Doctor Who themed dish cloth on Ravelry.
Fan-Made TARDIS Dress
Need an idea for a Halloween costume or something to wear to PAX? How about a TARDIS dress? This dress has been floating around for awhile now and it's wildly popular, it even has its own Facebook page. The TARDIS Princess dress, sported by Sasha Trabane, has an interior painted by Andy Coyle. Oh and don't forget, it's bigger on the inside. If you're craving more, check out this round-up.
TARDIS Throw Blanket
With the new eighth series of "Doctor Who" steadily approaching, preparing yourself for hours of time travel seems like the proper protocol. Get yourself ready with this super soft and comfy TARDIS throw blanket (found here). Nothing seems more appealing than cuddling up in this throw and watching a "Doctor Who" marathon.
What else can we create to celebrate "Doctor Who"... Hmmm, I know. A quilt! Wendy over at Wendymoon Designs made this cute TARDIS mini-quilt with star stitching. I think it's darling and I would really love to see a full sized one! P.S. She also made a cute little felt adipose that you can see in the post on her blog.
"Something Blue" TARDIS T-Shirt
Last but certainly not least is this lovely V-Neck TARDIS "Something Blue" T-shirt to celebrate the incoming 8th series. If you dream about marrying the Doctor like me, you know there will always be something blue at your dream wedding.. the TARDIS. This shirt plays on that idea. It has a flattering shape so you'll look good and feel good that you'll be flaunting your fandom.
