A profile of Katie Jasiewicz, a blogger at Sew Woodsy
This week we feature Katie Jasiewicz, who is one half of the blogging team at Sew Woodsy. The other half is actually Katie’s “other half” — her husband, Jon! Katie and Jon Jasiewicz are the authors of SewWoodsy.com: a husband-and-wife DIY team that documents their journey of homeownership one tutorial at a time. Sew Woodsy is a place where they share their love for renovating and decorating on a budget. Each blog post includes detailed tutorials and photographs to help the average person become a DIY expert. We asked Katie some questions and here’s what she had to say!
Can you tell us a little bit about your blog and when you started it?
My husband, Jon, and I started Sew Woodsy as a way to share and document our journey of homeownership. We started the blog a year after purchasing a foreclosed home. We were completing tons of DIY projects and were constantly sharing photos and stories with our family across the United States on a photo sharing site. That's when we realized we needed to create a blog and share our photos, stories and tutorials with the world! We started Sew Woodsy as a hobby and over the past 3 years it has blossomed into a business. Never in a million years did we think we would be entrepreneurs!
What is one of your favorite projects you've ever made?
Jon is in love with the Fire Pit we created earlier this year. I would say my favorite project would be our DIY Trumeau Floor Mirror. But overall I loved all the projects we worked on for our Master Bedroom.
Which of your craft projects took the longest to finish?
Hands down it was our Ikea Tullsta Chair. It took us over 2 years to sew and reupholster the chair! It was a labor of love (and a pain in the neck), but well worth the wait.
When I'm not crafting, I can be found…
Cooking! I also have a food blog, KatiesCucina.com.
If you were to be cast on a reality TV show, which one would you choose and why?
I would say "The Amazing Race" because I love (we love) to travel, but if you were to ask Jon he would say "Survivor" because he thinks it so cool to be dropped off in the middle of nowhere and be expected to survive. He would build the shelter and fish daily for food (and probably be the first one booted off the island)!
