A profile of the blogger Katie Ellis, from ChooChoo Skadoo
This week we feature Katie Ellis, who blogs over at ChooChoo Skadoo. Katie is a master of quilting and that’s mainly what she posts at her blog. She has been sewing away since the age of five! Back in 2012, she got serious about quilting and that led to the creation of her blog, ChooChoo Skadoo, as well as her Etsy shop, which has the same name. Katie loves making quilts, but also enjoys creating bags, clothes, pillowcases and much more. We asked Katie some questions and here is what she had to say.
Can you tell us a little bit about your blog and when you started it?
I started ChooChoo Skadoo in the beginning of 2012. I started it as a place to share what I love to do. I love to sew and create and I use my blog as another form of a creative outlet.
What is one of your favorite projects you've ever made?
This is a tough one. I love the Monster Mayhem quilt I made my little boy. My Autism Hope quilt holds a special place in my heart as does my little boy I made it for. But my favorite quilt is my Five Dudes Jelly Roll quilt using Noteworthy by Sweetwater.
Where do you find inspiration for your creative projects?
All around me. I get inspiration from things I see in the store, or at the park, or in my imagination while I'm doing the dishes.
Which of your craft projects took the longest to finish?
That would be the T-shirt quilt that I am making my husband. It's almost done. Two years in the making.
Describe your personal style in 3 words.
Bright, modern and fun.
When I'm not crafting, I can be found...
Hanging out with my two boys (6 and 4) or my brand new baby girl (2 months) or my awesome husband of 7 years.
If you were to be cast on a reality TV show, which one would you choose and why?
The Voice. I want to meet Adam.
Each week, we feature a CraftFoxes member who is doing great work! Want to be featured right here? Upload your favorite craft projects today. If we choose you as next week’s featured member, we’ll send you a CraftFoxes T-shirt, and we'll link to your blog or handmade shop!
