Project Runway Bingo, designer fabrics and more from this favorite craft shop
With trendy fabrics and a stylish location in Cincinnatti, Ohio's Oakley neighborhood (a.k.a., the Design District), Sewn Studio is not your grandmother's quilt shop. Through a warm manner and extensive knowledge of sewing and quilting, Sewn helps customers create brilliant design and decor while also modernizing those supposedly "old-fashioned" fabric crafts. Other ways they revamp quilting's antiquated rap is via a sewing lounge, complete with sunny windows and cushy sofas, a Project Runway Bingo and even intriguing interviews with the show's designers, all of which have us rushing to read — and quilt!

CraftFoxes staff member Rachael Gander also works at Sewn Studio and shares a few insights into what makes this shop so successful.
What's a "sewing lounge"? Are cocktails available?
No cocktails in this lounge, but desserts and candy are always welcome! It is a place where people can come to sew, to share ideas, find inspiration and learn something new. We teach a variety of classes for adults and children, from beginner to advanced, and also offer open studio time for independent sewists.
Quilts have a "grandmotherly," somewhat dated vibe. How is Sewn Studio changing that?
We've found that modern quilters are changing that, and we love it! The bright colors and bold prints in so many modern fabric designs are attracting many new sewists to quilting and reinvigorating many seasoned quilters. We're honored to be part of the process of making any quilt, be it modern or traditional.
Why is Sewn different / better than a big-box store?
It's definitely different.... Our staff members are all experienced sewists, which allows us to offer our first-hand knowledge and experience to our customers, and our smaller size gives us more time to offer this personal attention. We sell a carefully curated selection of quality fabrics, notions, books and patterns from designers whose work we respect and admire.
