For any fish lover or aquarist, who is interested in bringing the magic of aquatic life to their workspace, this easy to follow step by step guide is here to set up your very own Freshwater Aquarium in the Office!

Supplies:

• Aquarium Tank.
• Stand of appropriate size for your aquarium tank.
• Water Bucket.
• Compatible Aquarium Substrate (Gravel or Sand)
• Internal Canister Filter or HOB Filter.
• Heater.
• Thermometer
• Hood and LED Lights.
• Water Conditioner.
• Water Testing Kits.
• Reef safe Decorations.
• Chosen Fish Species.

Step 1

Begin by choosing a suitable location to keep your freshwater aquarium in the workspace. Ensure it’s away from direct sunlight and have easy access to electrical outlets.

Step 2

Assemble the stand according to the manufacturer’s instructions and place the aquarium tank (Empty) on it.

Step 3

Now select your chosen aquarium compatible substrate (either gravel or sand) and rinse it with water to remove any impurities and prevent hazy water. Now spread it evenly on the bottom of the aquarium tank to create a natural base.

Step 4

Set up the internal canister or HOB filter inside your aquarium tank. It is necessary to maintain water clarity and quality.

Step 5

Install the heater inside the aquarium tank to maintain stable water temperature for your chosen fish species. Also, attach a thermometer to the glass of the aquarium to monitor the temperature of the water consistently.

Step 6

Clean the reef safe decorations first, then position them in desired location inside your aquarium tank. This will create an appealing environment for your fish.

Step 7

Fill up the water bucket, add the water conditioner and slowly stir, this will de-chlorinate the water.

Step 8

Now use your water testing kits to check levels of ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, pH, KH and GH. Adjust them according to your chosen species of fish. Once the water is de-chlorinated and all the parameters are adjusted, slowly fill the aquarium tank with that water, leaving 1-inch of space from the top of the tank.

Step 9

Introduce your fish species by floating the sealed fish bags in the aquarium tank to acclimate them to the water temperature.

Step 10

Attach the LED Lights to the Hood for illumination or plant growth and then secure the Hood at the top of the aquarium tank.
