Aprons are fun, functional and easy to sew. Authors Ellen and Julia Lupton suggest making an apron that matches your kitchen, or recycling an old party dress so that you can feel fancy when you're hard at work.

Step 3
For a full apron, cut off the sleeves and cut off the back. If the dress already has a sash, leave it intact.
Step 4
For a finished look, pin sides and then hem under using a hand-sewing needle or sewing machine.
