Use a craft punch to punch a circle out of cardstock. Draw a spiral shape on the circle and cut along the line. Note: In order to create a petal effect without the use of a specialized machine, cut a scalloped edge along the outside edge of the spiral to the center.

Cut or tear the washi tape into thin strips. Wrap the washi tape around and around the spiral shape, perpendicular to the cut edge, the entire length of the piece of cardstock.

Coil the taped cardstock spiral tightly around itself. Secure the washi tape at the bottom of the coil with tacky glue or a hot glue gun.
