Zig Zag Finishing Stitch
This is a form of overcasting using a machine stitch. Use a zigzag stitch or a preprogrammed overcasting stitch to finish the raw edges. Adapted from "How to Use, Adapt, and Design Sewing Patterns," by Lee Hollahan and published by Barron's Educational Series. Lead image from flickr.com/hoppobumpo.
