Have you heard of the new site for sewing patterns, SewSet? Featuring tons of free sewing patterns as well as sewing patterns for purchase, this is a one-stop shop for sewing lovers. Whether you sew for children, women, men or your home, there are loads of patterns organized by category. You can customize your search to list only free patterns, patterns for sale or a combination of the two.

The best part about SewSet is that it's a a user-driven directory, which means you can upload your own sewing patterns and tutorials to share with the world. The site is the project of Jessica Gerblick, the blogger behind Me Sew Crazy. We've asked Jessica to share a little bit about her inspiration for the site!

Jessica, what is the vision behind SewSet and how did you get started?

SewSet started when I was desperately trying to remember where I saw a tutorial for a particular sewing project that I was working on. I knew this tutorial had tips in it that would help me for a certain technique. After hours of searching I just couldn't find it! Why wasn't everything in one place already? Why wasn't there a directory for this?

That is when it hit me that there really should be! And after speaking with my husband about it, and getting his support and technical knowledge, he pointed me in the right direction to start building. Our vision continues to grow on an almost daily basis, but for now we are taking one step at a time.

Our goal is for it to truly be a place where individual designers and seamstresses can connect and find exactly what they are looking for, a community and full directory of patterns under every category, with more emphasis on the designers, on the creations, and even on the seamstresses who recreate them.

What do you love about writing and sharing sewing patterns online?

I love the process of creating — sewing is cathartic for my soul. It is my passion. And being able to share that, it just makes it so much sweeter. I taught myself to sew one pattern at a time, and I am so thankful for it. Knowing that my tutorials can offer someone else the chance to learn ... well, it just means the world to me.

There are so many fantastic bloggers out there doing the same thing and they deserve to be found. I want SewSet to shine a light on all of these independent designers who offer their creations online, and I want there to be an easy place to find them.

Become a member of SewSet to upload your own tutorials and patterns. Or, just have fun discovering other user-submitted sewing patterns.
