iPhone or iPod Cover or Cozy (Free Crochet Pattern)

The pattern for this smart phone cover (feel free to use it with an iPod, iPhone or Android) was adapted with permission from Lion Brand Yarn. If you want to make the cover as it appears in the picture, Lion Brand recommends the Rhinestone Pink color of the Vanna's Glamour yarn.
 
SKILL LEVEL: Easy
 
SIZE: One Size
About 3 x 5 in. (7.5 x 12.5 cm), closed
 
GAUGE:
17 sc = 4 in. (10 cm).
EXACT GAUGE IS NOT ESSENTIAL FOR THIS PROJECT.
NOTES: Cozy is worked in the rnd and then back and forth in rows for flap.
 
ABBREVIATIONS
beg = begin(s)(ning)

ch(s) = chain(s)
rep = repeat(s)(ing)

rnd(s) = round(s)
sc = single crochet
sl st = slip stitch
st(s) = stitch(es)
tbl = through the back loop

Step 1

COZY
Ch 26. Taking care not to twist the ch; join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in each ch around; join with sl st in first sc - 26 sc at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc around; join with sl st in top of turning ch.
Rep Rnd 2 until piece measures about 5 in. (12.5cm) from beg. Do not fasten off.

Step 2

Flap
Note: Flap is worked back and forth in rows.
Row 1: Ch 1, sc TBL in each of next 13 sc, leave remaining sts unworked - 13 sc at the end of this row.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc TBL in each of next 13 sc across. Rep Row 2 until flap measures 2 in. (5 cm).
Fasten off.

Step 3

FINISHING
Flatten Cozy and sew closed at lower edge. Weave in ends.
