Hello Kitty cake pops make a great dessert for birthday parties, showers or weddings. Keroppi the frog is one of Hello Kitty's friends, marked by his green face, huge eyes and sheepish smile. If you've never tried making cake pops, read on for some tips on baking and decorating cake and food crafts.

Step 1

Gather your cake pops supplies. To make the Keroppi cake pops, you will need a prepared cake mix, frosting, Wilton Candy Melts (in Green), Wilton Candy Eyeballs, Wilton Lollipop Sticks (6-inch size) and confetti sprinkles (flat candy dots) in pink, which you can use to make Keroppi's cheeks.

Step 2

To make the cake pops, start with a basic cake mix, and bake according to the directions on the package. Crumble the cake into a bowl and blend with one-half to one-third of a can of frosting.

Step 3

Scoop cake crumbles and roll into balls just larger than one inch in diameter. If you have a cookie scoop, use it to measure out the right amount for each cake pop. Arrange cake balls on a cookie sheet and refrigerate for one hour until they harden.

Step 4

Melt a small amount of chocolate in a cup, and dip the end of a lollipop stick into melted chocolate. Insert the chocolate end of the stick into the center of each cake pop, making sure the stick doesn't poke through to the other side. Repeat with all cake pops, and refrigerate for 15 minutes to make the sticks harden inside the cake. You can stand the cake pops upright in a styrofoam base or lay them on a cookie sheet for this step.

Step 5

Dip cake pops in softened green candy melts, following directions on the package. Tip: For smoother coverage, you can add a spoonful of Crisco to the Wilton candy melts, which tend to melt thicker than a meltable almond bark. Refrigerate cake pops for 15 minutes so candy coating hardens.

Remove cake pops from fridge and use a toothpick to dab melted chocolate where facial features will go. Add candy eyes high on top of Keroppi's head, using the melted chocolate as glue. Choose two long chocolate sprinkles and add to the mouth to make a smile. Add pink candy dots to the cheeks to make Keroppi's face. Enjoy your new Hello Kitty and friends cake pops!
