When you’ve made it through the big holidays, it’s tempting to skimp on the decorations for your New Year’s party. But the beauty of throwing a New Year’s Eve or Day party is that between the champagne and cocktails your guests will have, no one will notice that you didn’t break the bank. Just having a few small details is enough to make a big impact. Here are several last-minute New Year's Party decorations that you can put together in no time at all. (If you need a head start, of course, you can always snatch up decorations at a place like One Way Novelties and refashion.)

Printable Cupcake Toppers
Time Investment: 20 minutes to print and attach to store-bought cupcakes

With the help of a few printables, like these brilliant cupcake toppers, it really couldn’t be any easier to add a little extra style to your appetizer table. Pick up cupcakes from the store or bake your own for a touch of homemade flair.

Hand-Punched Confetti Favors
Time investment: 10 minutes to make confetti, 10 minutes to package it

Though it really does seem like a small detail, going the DIY route for confetti is worth it. That’s because pre-packaged confetti is made from bits of mylar, which will stick to every surface of your home for you to discover months from now. Instead, use a hole punch to create celebratory circles from construction paper. It’s a mindlessly therapeutic activity that’ll erase any pre-party jitters. Set it out in bowls or package a small handful in cute little packets made from wax paper.

Custom Wine Bottle Labels
Time investment: 1 minute each to print out and glue to a bottle

OK, I’ll admit it: I’ve totally “customized” a label in order to disguise a not-so-fancy bottle of wine (read: Three Buck Chuck). I won’t tell anyone if you use this tactic to maximize your bar on a budget.

New Year’s Ball Decoration
Time investment: About 10 minutes a ball

A few hanging snowballs further the wintry holiday ambiance, but can be used long after the party’s over. You could even pile them into a bowl or stack inside a glass vase for a sculptural focal point.) Though many tutorials advise you to use a balloon as the basis for these sphere-type decorations, this genius tutorial only requires a Styrofoam ball and a bit of leftover yarn.

Photobooth Props

Vintage-Inspired Photobooth
Time investment: 30 minutes to gather props and hang a backdrop

Status update: This free photobooth idea is an awesome addition to any party. It’s one way to guarantee that your photos will never be blurry or unflattering, yes. But as project creator Lindsay of Shrimp Salad Circus says, it will also get your guests off the couch as opposed to awkwardly standing around, not knowing what to do. You don’t have to be as intricate as our old-timey party guests here, but let’s just say a few props go a long way….

Hanging Paper Snowflakes

Hanging Paper Snowflakes
Time investment: 2 minutes per snowflake

Even if you’ve experienced the snowpocalypse, a few paper snowflakes are enchanting when hung from a chandelier (or ceiling) with thread. For the quickest shortcut to an indoor winter wonderland, use a few lacy leftover Christmas decorations. In a pinch, a bunch of small paper lace doilies will do. But if you’re up for some quick pre-party crafting, snip snowflakes from white paper. The ethereal effect is absolutely divine.
