Summer is undoubtedly here, which means that bathing suit season is now well upon us. But not to worry, ladies, because this year’s hottest swim trend is one we can all get behind: Vintage swimsuits. Well, okay. So some of us are skeeved by the idea of wearing someone else’s old suit (no matter how many decades have passed), but many others see it as just like any other vintage item. If you’re in the former camp, you can still get in on the trend thanks to a spate of companies and handmade artisans offering vintage-inspired swimsuits. Our favorite? Frankie Four, the label behind this adorable bikini.

Woman sews and repars flags
Modern-Day Betsy Ross

84-year-old Sally Kushman of Aberdeen, South Dakota sews 200 flags a year. She’s been sewing since the 1940s (starting out on a foot-powered machine) but only started working with flags recently. And here’s something you probably didn’t know: It’s perfectly fine to mend and repair a flag, as opposed to the more popular thought of just retiring them.
