Beth in Texas started her crochet channel because she was teaching a friend how to crochet and her student was always forgetting the lessons. Several years later she has millions of hits and over 65,000 followers. This video, from her back to basics series, includes tips on how to hold a crochet hook, yarn tension and making a slipknot.

Still not sure how to make a slipknot? Feeling confused? Here's another, more step-by-step explanation of how to create one from New Stitch a Day. Don't worry, you'll get it.

Sometimes learning to crochet can be more fun with a friend, so Leisure Arts had their interns create a video in which one teaches the other the basics. The nice thing about this lesson is that the student has some of the same questions you may have about how to begin. So, if you feel awkward asking questions (or don't have anyone to ask), just watch.

Leisure Arts has plenty of crochet books, patterns and easy projects for you to work on, including Crocheted cotton pot holders and dishcloth.

Courtney Kennedy (of the site Always Rooney) has some of the coolest looking crochet videos you'll ever see. Her instructional videos are shot in warm hues with a mellow, folky soundtracks, so it makes learning crochet feel pretty hip!

If it seems like she's going a little fast, you can always slow down and rewind.

Now that you're starting to get somewhere with the stitches, you'll need to know how to change yarn soon enough. Linda Permann from Craftsy shows you how.

Don't forget, Craftsy also offers plenty of other crochet classes, including My First Crochet Cardigan and Crochet Mittens & Fingerless Gloves. You'll want to click to check out more.

Still need a little more inspiration? Here's a video from Lion Brand Yarn about how Vanna White learned to crochet. She struggled to get it, too. And now she has her own line of yarn! It's just a matter of time.
