Are you intimidated by quilting with triangles? Designed by John Q. Adams, this quilt block is called "Bowties & Blooms" and is a beginner-friendly design excerpted with permission from "Fat Quarterly Shape Workshop for Quilters: 60 Blocks + a Dozen Quilts and Projects!" (Lark Crafts).

Step 1

Cut out the following from assorted fabric scraps as listed:
- salmon solid, 2 squares measuring 3 and 7/8 inches (9.8 cm)
- blue floral print, 1 square measuring 3 and 7/8 inches (9.8 cm)
- blue tree print, 1 square measuring 6 and 7/8 inches (17.5 cm)

Step 2

From gray solid fabric, cut:
- 4 squares measuring 3 and 1/2 inches (8.9cm)
- 5 squares measuring 3 and 7/8 inches (9.8 cm)

Step 3

Cut all the squares, except for the gray 31/2-inch (8.9 cm) squares, in half on the diagonal.

Step 4

Assemble the pieces based on the diagram. Stitch together each quadrant, then stitch those together.

Step 5

This quilt block is excerpted with permission from "Fat Quarterly Shape Workshop for Quilters: 60 Blocks + a Dozen Quilts and Projects!" written by Katy Jones, Brioni Greenberg, Tacha Bruecher and John Q. Adams and published by Lark Crafts.
