I wanted to make something really special for my Dad for Christmas last year. So I made him this Crochet Chess Set that I designed myself. It took me 17 full days to complete this set.
Each piece is worked amigurumi style from bottom to top. The pawns have pennies for bases, while the rest of the pieces have nickels for bases. The King piece stand at 5.5" tall. The Queen is 5" tall. The Bishop is 4" tall. The Knight is 4.25" tall. The Castle/Rook is 3.5" tall, and the pawn is 2.5" tall.
The board is Tapestry Crochet, and it doubles as a drawstring bag to store the pieces. It is 16"x16" when laid out flat.
