d sweater as soon as she saw it - so I know there are other little ones out there that will want to have this special hand-knit item. I especially love the little cross-stitch design on the pocket. Such a cute little detail!

This pattern is originally from WomanвЂ™s Day Knitting Book, Number 17, published in 1973. This is no longer in circulation, so in order to make it available for more vintage loving knitters, I am transcribing the instructions exactly as written in the original pattern book and offering them here.

Directions are for Children's 6 (8-10). Garment width around underarms is about 29" (31"-33'). Loosely fit garment.

Gauge: 4 sts = 1" on size 8 needles

Knitting Needles: 24" circular needles, straight needles and set of dp needles each No. 5 and No. 8 or sizes required to knit to gauge.

Crochet Hook: size G. (some basic crochet is needed for the finishing)
